It was not to be. The BIG ONE got him and the ride was done.
Mike Wallace’s great ride at Daytona ended with a long slide into a gaggle of crashing cars that blocked his every move. After falling a lap down in an early brush with another spinning car, the J-D Motorsports #01 Kendrick Meek for Senate/Double Harvest for Haitian relief Chevy was in the top ten. Mike was ready to demonstrate his signature drafting technique to stay in contention.
It was not to be. The BIG ONE got him and the ride was done. Kendrick Meek, Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate in Florida said it best: “Mike Wallace is a role model and champion. I’m proud to have been a part of his team this week here in Daytona Beach . I wish Mike and the entire J-D Motorsports team only the best of success throughout the racing season.” The Meek campaign was pleased beyond expectations in the professionalism of the team and the exposure generated by the NASCAR Nationwide Series.
Wallace was disappointed in the way the ride ended, but expressed gratitude for the exposure generated for Double Harvest in their quest to bring ground-level relief in Haiti.
The Johnny and Lori Davis team now heads for Auto Club Speedway in Fontana , CA still very much in need of more sponsorship support. “I think we showed in Daytona that we can provide marketing value on the national stage for our partners,” said Johnny Davis
