GAFFNEY, S.C. (May 16, 2013) – Swift Response LLC, makers of Flex Seal and Flex Seal Brite, are pleased to announce the running of the No. 4 Red “Brite” and Blue Flex Seal Chevy driven by Landon Cassill, at the History 300 at Charlotte Motor Speedway on May 25th.

The special paint scheme was created in conjunction with the “NASCAR: An American Salute” program that begins this weekend in Charlotte and ends with the summer Daytona race. The opportunity for Flex Seal to highlight their Brite product while showing their support for the military was something special for both the team and sponsor.

“Swift Response is pleased to have this opportunity to show our support of the U.S. troops with the Red, ‘Brite’, and Blue paint scheme. Flex Seal is proud to be made in the USA!” stated Becky Nelson, Director of Marketing. In addition to the special scheme, the company will be distributing product around the track this weekend, to both military members and the general public.

Landon Cassill Quotes: “I am looking forward to running this special Red, ‘Brite’, and Blue Flex Seal car at Charlotte. Having our homecoming race on Memorial Day weekend is special to me and the team. I am happy to help Flex Seal support the troops by running this patriotic car.”

GAFFNEY, S.C. (May 13, 2013) – Mike Wallace drove the No. 01 Mac’s Pride Chevy to a 25th place finish Friday, May 10th at Darlington Raceway.

The homecoming weekend for JD Motorsports started on Friday morning as the team went through practice and qualifying for the race on Friday night. The veteran Wallace finished the lone practice session 25th, and backed it up by qualifying 25th for the race.

As the race began, the No. 01 Mac’s Pride Chevy advanced into the top-20 before a series of pit stops after a lap 25 caution. The crew went to work and reeled off a great stop, putting Wallace back out 20th. The next phase of the race included a long, and unexpected, green flag run. During this time, the No. 01 machine was caught one lap down after a fierce battle with leader Kyle Busch to remain on the lead lap.

As the laps winded down, Wallace brought the car down pit road for four tires and fuel. At the finish, the team crossed the line 25th. The finish moved Wallace up to 18th in the Driver’s Standings.

Mike Wallace Quotes: “This was a good weekend for JD Motorsports. We both finished top-25, neither car was wrecked, and both are back in the top-30 in Owner’s Points. I am proud of our small team this weekend and what we accomplished. We ended up going a lap down which prevented us from gaining many spots at the end, but we had a competitive car all night, with great pit stops.”

GAFFNEY, S.C. (May 5, 2013) – A long hard fight with the “Lady in Black” saw Landon Cassill and the No. 4 Flex Seal team cross the stripe in the 23rd position on Friday, May 10th.

The Nationwide Series was a one day show on Friday, with the competitors using the lone morning practice session to tune their race cars for the race. Cassill, using familiar JDM Chassis 014, ended the session in 23rd. He backed that performance up in qualifying by rolling off the grid 20th.

As the race started, the No. 4 Flex Seal machine settled into its spot on the track. The field was slowed for a caution at lap 25, where Crew Chief Marc Browning decided to stay out on the track to lead a lap. After starting towards the back, Cassill had the No. 4 car back up to 22nd by lap 92.

The ensuing long green flag run, coupled with bad track position, left Cassill stranded one lap down. A pit stop on lap 111 enabled the experienced Cassill to pit for gas and four fresh Goodyear tires. For the remainder of the night, Cassill raced one lap down fighting for positions with teammate Wallace in the No. 01. As the checked flag flew, the team ended the race with a top-25, allowing the team to advance in the Owner’s Points battle to 29th. The No. 4 Flex Seal Chevrolet is now “locked in” for the homecoming weekend at Charlotte.

Landon Cassill Quotes: “I want to thank Flex Seal and all the guys for the hard work this weekend. We were decent in practice and the race. Unfortunately, we were caught a lap down, and we were never able to get the Lucky Dog to get back. Darlington is a fun track because the of the tire wear, and after 20 laps the whole field was basically running similar times. I am looking forward to returning at Charlotte after a short off weekend.”

GAFFNEY, S.C. (May 7, 2013) – After a dramatic last lap wreck that left the No. 4 Flex Seal Chevy merely feet from the start/finish line, the team will look to rebound at historic Darlington Raceway for the running of the VFW Sport Clips Help A Hero 200 on Friday, May 10th.

Returning to the car will be Landon Cassill. After being cleared by doctors at the infield care center last week, the young driver will look to improve on the team’s best finish of 17th from Talladega. Cassill had hoped for a better finish as he removed the scoring transponder from the car and personally walked it across the line, but was instead scored in 17th, the last car still running.

Cassill and the No. 4 Flex Seal Chevy will be led by Crew Chief Marc Browning this week, in a move to strengthen the organization and improve the performance at the track. Browning has spent time working with both Cassill and Wallace this season on both race entries.

The No. 4 Flex Seal team will utilize JDM Chassis 014. This is the same Chevrolet that competed at Texas and Richmond with Cassill behind the wheel. In both races, the car ran in the top 15, but suffered from an engine failure and a bad set of tires. This week the team will look to finish strong and lock themselves back into the top-30 in the Owner’s Points battle.

Landon Cassill Quotes: “With Talladega behind us, and another decent finish, we can focus on getting back into the top-30 here at Darlington. This race is also a race of attrition, a lot of cars will wreck. I think we can go out and have a solid top-20 run, which should position us well in the points. Also this week, I will be working closer with Marc Browning, which should help the team. I am still bummed about the end of last week, but if we can go run well again, I think it says a lot about this team.”

Tune in for the Win: The NASCAR Nationwide Series competes under the lights in prime time at historic Darlington Raceway on Friday night, May 10th, and ESPN2 will have a live telecast of the 200-mile race. NASCAR Countdown airs at 7:00 p.m. ET with the green flag at 7:45 p.m. MRN Radio and Sirius XM NASCAR Radio Ch. 90 will also carry the action Saturday. The racing will be preceded by qualifying at 3:30 on Friday and once practice session from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m.

GAFFNEY, S.C. (May 7, 2013) – Fresh off a 7th place finish at Talladega, Mike Wallace and the No. 01 team will head to historic Darlington Raceway in South Carolina for the VFW Sport Clips Help A Hero 200 on Friday, May 10th. The race is a homecoming of sorts for JD Motorsports, with the team located in nearby Gaffney, SC.

Although finishing last week’s race inside the top-10, the car was involved in a last lap crash and will be scrapped by the team. Wallace was escorted to the care center, but cleared and released.

Wallace will be piloting JDM Chassis 007. This Chevy, last run at Bristol Motor Speedway in March, will be tuned and set up for NASCAR’s first superspeedway. The 1.3 mile facility has often been called the “Lady in Black” and “The Track Too Tough To Tame” for its’ abrasive surface and tough racing.

Wallace has experienced success at the track in the past, including two top-15 finishes while driving for owner Johnny Davis. With the veteran sitting 19th in Owner’s Points, a good run will push the driver closer to the top-15.

Mike Wallace Quotes: “Our team had a great top-10 finish at Talladega this past weekend. Although the car was destroyed, we were finally able to finish one of those races. That finish will add momentum to our program, and also a nice boost in points. Darlington is a historic venue that has really tight and tough racing. I am looking forward to another good finish this weekend.”

GAFFNEY, S.C. (May 5, 2013) – Mike Wallace and the No. 01 G&K Services team was rewarded with their first top-10 finish of the 2013 season at Talladega. The race included a dramatic last lap crash that Wallace drove through en-route to a 7th place finish.

The weekend began with two practices sessions on Thursday, in which the team chose to work on single car runs leaving them towards the bottom of the board. The team saw the same result in qualifying, which fit with their race strategy of riding at the beginning of the race. By lap 5, the No. 01 was in 33rdspot, hanging with the lead draft. The race strategy was created to allow the team to be around at the finish, and to avoid the ‘big one’.

After a long pit stop under caution where the crew worked on aerodynamics, the No. 01 G&K Services Chevy went one lap down. However the team then benefited from the ‘Lucky Dog’, and by lap 41 Wallace began working with his teammate, Landon Cassill in the No. 4 Flex Seal Chevy. The duo immediately went to the front, running 11th and 12th on lap 80.

While riding around, another large wreck occurred eliminating many cars from contention. In the ruckus, the Wallace machine experienced slight damage to the right rear quarter-panel, but the team continued running with the leaders. After another caution, NASCAR officials shortened the race to 107 laps, leaving the field with 2 more laps to sort out their positions on track.

The tandem draft of Wallace and Cassill went high and low to pass cars, and gained 15 car lengths on the back stretch to be racing with the leaders. As the field exited turn 4, the veteran Wallace made his move, leaving the duo running 6th and 7th, before the cars in front wrecked. The No. 01 team was collected, but Wallace was able to cross the line 7th.

The finish moved the No. 01 team up in owner’s points to 27th, and Wallace up to 19th in driver’s points.

Mike Wallace Quotes: “Wow, what a race. We were down a bit on horsepower, but as soon as I hooked up with Landon in the No. 4 we were able to run up to the front. These cars have so much speed at this track, and the draft is everything!

The beginning of the race was tough, as we hung in the pack, but once I got in tandem, we had cars capable of winning the race. At the end we made a nice run and were running the leaders down, but they started wrecked and I had to drive through them to finish. I am really happy with this top-10 finish, and really want to thank the team for all the hard work they put into these speedway cars.”

GAFFNEY, S.C. (May 5, 2013) – Landon Cassill and the No. 4 Flex Seal team recorded a top-20 finish this weekend at the 2.66 mile Talladega Superspeedway. The team ran up front all day, but was collected in a last lap crash resulting in a 17th place finish. The finish catapulted the No. 4 car to 32nd in the Owner’s Points battle.

The race weekend started with shorter fuses and tense nerves as the NASCAR Nationwide Series made their annual visit to Talladega. The team had prepared two race winning machines for both Cassill and teammate Mike Wallace, and they planned to work together for the event. The No. 4 Flex Seal Chevy had limited practice time, but once qualifying arrived, the fresh ECR-powered machine found itself starting 22nd.

As the race began, Cassill found a comfortable spot in the draft and reported to the crew that the racecar was running great. For the first half of the event, the No. 4 machine moved around within the top-20, allowing Cassill to work on his drafting style for later in the race. After a caution at lap 41, Cassill hooked up with Mike Wallace in a tandem draft and immediately went to the front. The duo ran near the top-10, trying to find a safe spot to race on the treacherous high banks of Talladega.

After NASCAR Officials shortened the race and the field was left with one Green-White-Checkered to sort it out, the tandem immediately went to work. Moving into the top-15 with a lap to go, the duo used the back stretch to enter the top-10. With Wallace leading and Cassill pushing, the two were running 6th and 7th as the cars in front began to wreck at the finish. The No. 4 car went low and was then forced up the track, stopping before the start/finish line. Although suffering a hard hit, Cassill was able to climb out, remove the scoring transponder, and heroically walk it across the line to finish the event.

Landon Cassill Quotes: “That was a crazy and wild finish. When I started working with Mike, I could push really well without overheating, and he was able to lead us around here. We had a plan to run to the front on the last two laps, but we both knew they would end up wrecking up there. We had a great run down the back stretch and we were coming up on the lead pack out of turn 4, but through the tri-oval they started wrecking. I took a hard hit into the wall, but I am okay. I hate it to tear up a good car for Johnny, but I am proud of how well the car ran today. Hopefully we can go get them again next weekend at Darlington.”

GAFFNEY, S.C. (April 30, 2013) – The best medicine to recover from a blown motor at Richmond International Raceway is a visit to Talladega Superspeedway. NASCAR’s largest track, the 2.5 mile facility is home to high speeds and tight racing. Mike Wallace and the No. 01 JD Motorsports team are ready to run strong and be up front at the end.

After suffering from engine failure, Wallace dropped one spot in the driver’s points standings to 21st. The No. 01 Chevy remains ‘locked in’ ensuring him a start this week at Talladega.

The first taste of restrictor plate racing this year was at Daytona. Wallace, the 2011 Camping World Truck Series winner at Talladega, piloted his Chevrolet to the front of the field racing within the top-15 until a battery issue ended his day. He and team will look to Talladega to reverse their luck and finish the race strong.

Marc Browning and the No. 01 crew will utilize JDM Chassis 006. This is the same car Wallace raced at Daytona earlier this year that drafted well in the pack. The team will couple their strong car with a race strategy that will help them make it through the ‘big one’. In addition to Wallace being no stranger to Victory Lane, he also has four top-10 finishes in his 17 Nationwide Series starts at Talladega.

Mike Wallace Quotes: “Talladega is a special race track for me. I have had some great runs there in the past, including a win in the Truck Series two years ago. Talladega is usually a wild place. The racing is typical restrictor plate racing, and we as a team need to find a way to make it to the end. Our bunch has always run strong at the plate tracks, but finishing the deal is important.”

Tune in for the Win: The NASCAR Nationwide Series races at the 2.5 mile Talladega Superspeedway this weekend for the Aaron’s 299 and ABC will have a live telecast on Saturday, May 4th. NASCAR Countdown begins at 2:30 p.m. ET with the green flag at 3:35 p.m. MRN Radio and Sirius XM NASCAR Radio Ch. 90 will also carry the action Saturday. The racing will be preceded by qualifying at noon on Friday and two practice sessions at 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 a.m. on Thursday.

GAFFNEY, S.C. (April 30, 2013) – After running strong at Richmond International Raceway and recording the team’s best finish of 2013, Landon Cassill and the No. 4 Flex Seal Chevrolet will head to Talladega Superspeedway for the Aaron’s 299 on Saturday, May 4th. The top-20 finish moved the No. 4 car up 16 points in the owner’s standings, but still leaves the team outside the top-30 in points.

In order to maximize their potential at the 2.5 mile restrictor plate track, the team will use JDM Chassis 011. This racecar was previously the backup car for the No. 01 team at plate races, but has been rebuilt into a Camaro and renumbered for this weekend. Powering the car will be a fresh ECR motor.

Although Cassill will be making his first start at Talladega in the Nationwide Series, he is no stranger to success at plate races. In his only start at Daytona, Cassill was rewarded with a top-5 finish after drafting with veteran Tony Stewart for the majority of the day.

Cassill, who recently completed a move into a new house, will be making his third start with JD Motorsports, and joining him will be Flex Seal. Along with the typical tight racing at Talladega is the potential for being involved in the ‘big one’, a scenario the team will work hard to avoid.

Landon Cassill Quotes: “Last weekend was so much fun racing towards the front at Richmond. This is going to be a tough weekend for us, because we want to run and finish well, but we cannot risk getting involved in an early crash. I have had some good races at the restrictor plate tracks in the past, including pushing Tony Stewart to a win back in 2011. I’m looking forward to the race, I know we will have a good car and good power.”

GAFFNEY, S.C. (April 27, 2013) – After a long Friday night race at Richmond International Raceway, Landon Cassill and the No. 4 JD Motorsports team brought the Flex Seal Chevy home to a 19th place finish. The top 20 is the best finish for the team this year, and moves the No. 4 car up 16 points in the owner’s points battle.

The weekend started out well as the experienced Cassill reported good speed in the No. 4 Flex Seal Chevy during both practices. After qualifying 19th, the team worked on a race strategy that would allow them to battle the field all night. Once the green flag flew, the No. 4 car raced around the 20th position until the field was slowed for a long caution and red flag. After a miscue on the next pit stop, Cassill found himself in 25th place.

But the young driver wasted no time running down the leaders, and by lap 60 he was back in 18th. While battling track position, the No. 4 Chevy was consistently running lap times that mirrored the leaders before the next caution flew on lap 105. The driver reported that he wanted no changes, the Flex Seal crew responded by producing a fast stop allowing the car to gain 3 spots off pit road.

The next caution came just in time as the No. 4 car received the Lucky Dog, and the team began to make subtle changes to help the driver as the race neared completion. After a series of late race wrecks coupled with smart driving, the No. 4 Flex Seal Chevy was sitting 12th with less than 20 laps to go. Utilizing the first set of race used tires for the short run left the car handling different, but Cassill was able to hang on to post his best finish of the year. The team was thrilled with the finish, and hope to improve again next week at the 2.5 mile Talladega.

Landon Cassill Quotes: “What a great night for the JD Motorsports No. 4 Flex Seal team. We unloaded with a great car, and used the most with what we had all weekend. It was fun to be out there racing with the lead pack all night, and having fast stops in the pits. Hopefully we can continue to put together these runs for the team. Thanks to Johnny and Flex Seal for the opportunity again!”

GAFFNEY, S.C. (April 27, 2013) – Mike Wallace and the No. 01 S.B. Ballard Construction Company team battled the competitors and the track on Friday night under the lights at Richmond International Raceway. Unfortunately, in the end a broken piston left the JD Motorsports team unable to finish the race resulting in a 33rd place finish.

The field took the green flag just after night fall with Mike Wallace rolling off from the 36th position. The veteran with 29 starts at Richmond began to make his way through the field but was slowed by a long caution and red flag at lap 40. This allowed the team to come down pit road for tires, fuel, and most importantly adjustments. By lap 60, Wallace had the car into the top 30.

After a long green flag run that left the ill-handling car out on the track and in need of adjustments, the field slowed again for a series of cautions throughout the middle of the race. The No. 01 team consistently rattled off 16 second pit stops keeping Wallace in the top 30.

Before the end of the night, the crew began to notice smoke coming from the rear of the No. 01 Chevy. Wallace radioed in that the car was losing power, forcing the team to come down pit road at lap 230 while running 27th. The car was taken to the garage, but Wallace and the team did not want to give up. After trying to return to the track with the same issue, the team discovered an issue with the piston. The engine woes contributed to a 33rd place finish, leaving the team in the precarious 30th spot in owner’s points.

Up next for the team is Talladega, a track where Wallace has experienced success in the past.

Mike Wallace Quotes: “Our car was tight all night. We were making little gains here and there, but then the engine went south. Our team is having a problem with a component in the engines and that is something we are looking at in the shop and trying to fix. I want to thank Steve and BJ Ballard for coming out tonight and supporting the team. Hopefully we can get the win next week at Talladega.

GAFFNEY, S.C. (April 23, 2013) – The Toyota Care 250 on Friday, April 26th will mark the second start for Landon Cassill with JD Motorsports. After an inspiring run that was cut short due to engine failure at Texas, the team is looking to rebound at Richmond. Cassill will again drive the No. 4 Flex Seal Chevrolet as he hopes to lock the team back into the all important top-35 in owner’s points.

This race will be the fifth start for Cassill at Richmond in the Nationwide Series, but the young driver also has five starts in the Sprint Cup Series to draw from. His experience coupled with the same racecar from Texas should leave the team at the top of the charts for the second weekend in a row.

Bringing chassis JDM 014 from Texas will help Cassill and the team transition their equipment from the 1.5 mile speedway to the .75 mile short track in Virginia. Cassill provided great feedback on the car, leading to the decision by the crew to bring it back after being refreshed between races.

Although suffering from a blown motor at Texas, Cassill piloted the car into the top-15 early on, and remained there until the cockpit filled with smoke requiring him to take the No. 4 Flex Seal Chevy behind the wall.

Landon Cassill Quotes: “After a encouraging weekend at Texas, I can’t wait to jump back in the No. 4 Flex Seal Chevy at Richmond. We had good speed all week, but the motor blowing was a real bummer. Hopefully we can repeat our good run and make it to the finish here. Richmond is a fun track; it is a short track with a lot of speed. I think we can run up towards the front again.”

Tune in for the Win

The NASCAR Nationwide Series races at the .75 mile Richmond International Raceway this weekend for a 250-lap night race and ESPN News will have a live telecast on Friday, April 26.
GAFFNEY, S.C. (April 23, 2013) – Following another off-week for the NASCAR Nationwide Series, Mike Wallace and the No. 01 S.B. Ballard Construction Team return to action this Friday, April 26th. After a good run in Texas, the team will look to finish in the top-25 for the fourth weekend in a row at Richmond.

The Marc Browning led team will utilize chassis JDM 009, which last competed at Phoenix International Raceway earlier this year. At Phoenix, the car immediately moved into the top-20 at the start of the race, but was caught up in a wreck suffering front end damage. Although the crash ended any hope for a good run, the car itself has been refreshed and repaired for Richmond.

The .75 mile track is equally fast as it is tight and often considered to have both short track and intermediate track qualities. In 2012, the team finished both races in the top-25. In addition to the fast speeds and sharp corners, the race will be run under the lights, adding intensity as the Nationwide Series regulars fight for positions against a large field of Sprint Cup drivers.

After success at Texas, the team has locked itself into the race at Richmond, allowing the team the entire practice session to work on race trim. With another good run at Richmond, the veteran Wallace will look to move up in the driver’s points standings, breaking into the top 20.

Joining the team will be SB Ballard Construction, a commercial builder with offices in Richmond and Virginia Beach, Va. who has been in business for 34 years. Today, S.B. Ballard provides pre-construction services, general contracting, construction management, design build, and concrete contracting services to an extensive list of clients throughout the Southeast.

Mike Wallace Quotes: “Richmond is always a fun race. The track is fast, but also short, and running under the lights adds excitement. We have put together a couple good runs now so I hope we can continue with that momentum at Richmond. The key is to make clean stops and stay on the lead lap. I know this team can continue to get better, especially after some bad luck early in the year. I am thankful to have my friend Steve Ballard supporting us again, and hope to run well.”

Tune in for the Win

The NASCAR Nationwide Series races at the .75 mile Richmond International Raceway this weekend for a 250-lap night race and ESPN News will have a live telecast on Friday, April 26. NASCAR Countdown begins at 7:00 p.m. ET with the green flag at 7:44 p.m. MRN Radio and Sirius XM NASCAR Radio Ch. 90 will also carry the action Friday. The racing will be preceded by qualifying at 4:00 p.m. on Friday and two practice sessions at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday and 9:00 a.m. on Friday.

GAFFNEY, S.C. (April 13, 2013) – After racing its’ way into the top fifteen, the Johnny Davis owned No. 4 Flex Seal Chevrolet piloted by Landon Cassill suffered an engine failure, resulting in a 36th place finish.

The Texas Motor Speedway weekend started off with a bang for the team, as Flex Seal returned to sponsor the No. 4 entry with Landon Cassill competing in his first race for the team. The results were immediate, as the team ended both practices in the top 25. With confidence in the car, Cassill qualified for the race, and would roll of 26th.

Immediately from the drop of the green flag, Cassill moved the Flex Seal Chevy toward the front. While racing conservatively, the team eased up into 21st through the first round of stops. Just before halfway, the caution flag flew for Kyle Larson as he spun on the front stretch. Cassill had to dip low, driving onto the apron, to avoid the car. Crew chief Dave Smith radioed for Cassill to bring the No. 4 entry to pit road for adjustments and a new set of Goodyear tires.

The changes to the car, coupled with the new tires, resulted in a charge to front over the next 20 laps. Within 10 laps of the stop, Cassill entered the top 15, then securing the 14th spot. At that point, the driver immediately radioed to the crew that something was wrong in the engine compartment. As the cockpit filled with smoke, the crew met the car in the garage and discovered a broke piston as the culprit.

Although the results do not reflect where the team ran, Cassill was excited about the future. “Really a shame that we blew the motor on this No. 4 Flex Seal Chevy. The car was racing really well, and I was having a ton of fun out there in the top 20. These guys work hard, and so do the engines, and sometimes things just break. We will be back, there is more of this to come.”

The NASCAR Nationwide Series will have next weekend off, and return to action at Richmond the following weekend.

GAFFNEY, S.C. (April 14, 2013) – After battling the track conditions for the majority of the night and then combating a sour motor in the waning laps, Mike Wallace was able to use his veteran experience to finish 21st at Texas Motor Speedway.

The finish, the third consecutive top-25 for the No. 01 G&K Services team, helped push Mike Wallace to 20th in the driver’s standings. The finish also provides the team the status of being “locked in” for the upcoming race at Richmond.

The weekend began with the veteran Wallace pacing the first and second practice sessions in 32ndboth times. After the field set qualifying times, Wallace would roll off 28th. Once the green flag dropped, the No. 01 G&K Services Chevy worked toward the front of the field. Never losing a lap during the beginning of the race, the team worked on the car while gaining track position. After the last pit stop with 40 laps to go, the team bolted on fresh Goodyear tires for a run to the finish.

As the field took the green, the No. 01 G&K Services Chevrolet began to smoke. Wallace continued to pilot the car and remained on the lead lap until the white flag flew. Only losing one lap, Wallace took the checkered flag in 21st, and brought the battered race machine down pit road.

Mike Wallace Quotes: “Coming home 21st is a nice run for our team. For the last few laps, I could tell we had a problem brewing, but I didn’t want to give up any spots on the track. The finish ended up well enough to move the team up in points, which takes the pressure off at Richmond. I would like to thank G&K Services for the support again here in Texas. Now we have another weekend off before heading to Richmond!”

GAFFNEY, S.C. (April 9, 2013) – The O’Reilly Auto Parts 300 at Texas Motor Speedway marks the first race for Landon Cassill in the No. 4 Flex Seal Chevrolet. Cassill, the 2008 NASCAR Nationwide Series Rookies of the Year, comes to the team with a diverse racing experience including multiple starts in each of the top three NASCAR national racing series.

After beginning the season alternating between two drivers, the move to the more experienced Cassill should immediately pay dividends. His experience in both racing and testing will help the entire operation, beginning at the 1.5-mile Texas Motor Speedway. Although this is only his second start in a Nationwide car at “The Great American Speedway,” Cassill will be racing his sixth Sprint Cup Series race here this weekend.

The fresh start for Cassill in the Nationwide garage will begin with chassis JDM 014. This Chevy Impala, used last year by the No. 01 team, has been rebuilt and renumbered over the offseason and will make its’ racing debut this weekend. The team will continue to be led by crew chief Dave Smith, who will work with Cassill for the first time.

Dave Smith Quotes: “I was lucky enough to meet Landon in California when he helped our team during practice. I knew right away that working with him for the season would be a great opportunity for the entire team, so we are ready to get started off right in Texas.”

Landon Cassill Quotes: “I am very excited to get the next chapter of my racing career going at Texas Motor Speedway with Johnny Davis and the Flex Seal racing team. After stopping by the shop, I think we will have a good car where we can race competitively all day. I am thankful for the opportunity, and I am looking forward to putting together a strong season. After racing the Cup race in Martinsville, this track will be super fast and a nice change.”

GAFFNEY, S.C. (April 9, 2013) – After a two week hiatus from NASCAR Nationwide Series racing, the JD Motorsports with Gary Keller team looks to Texas to continue their march to the front.
With the early 2013 season bad luck behind them, crew chief Mark Browning will utilize chassis JDM 016. This new car for JD Motorsports will turn its first competitive laps at Texas Motor Speedway this weekend. The 1.5 mile track, known for high speeds and large crowds, is located just outside of Fort Worth, Texas.

The track will play host to the O’Reilly Auto Parts 300 on Friday night, as well as another Nationwide event late in the season. The importance of finding the right setup will be pivotal as competitors look to run well at the fall event leading to the culmination of a season long points battle.

While most drivers would consider two weekends away from the track a nice vacation, Wallace spent the past weekend at the racetrack working with his son Matt in Missouri. In addition to helping further his sons’ racing career and working with marketing partners, Wallace also completed household chores, catching up before the 21-race stretch over summer.

Mike Wallace Quotes: “Having two weekends away from the track, in a row, is unusual. I enjoyed helping my son Matt at the track in Missouri, while catching up on things around the house. But now the attention turns to Texas. The new car should be fast, and with the support of G&K Services I am hoping for a strong run.”

GAFFNEY, S.C. (April 3, 2013) — JD Motorsports with Gary Keller has inked a deal with Landon Cassill to be the primary driver of the No. 4 Flex Seal Chevrolet for the remainder of the 2013 NASCAR Nationwide Series. The agreement covers all the companion events on the NASCAR Nationwide Series schedule, beginning next week at Texas Motor Speedway.

Cassill, 23, comes to the team with a vast racing experience over the past five years, including winning the 2008 NASCAR Nationwide Series Rookie of the Year. He began his racing career when he first entered a quad race at the tender age of three-years-old, then progressing to karting where he won two Kart Series National Championships and four International Kart Federation (IKF) Championships.

Quickly adapting, Cassill then became the youngest winner in the ASA Late Model Series in 2003 by a winning a North Series event at Lake Erie Speedway at the age of 14, his first foray into stock car racing. Cassill began his NASCAR career through the GM Racing Development competition and was signed by NASCAR powerhouse Hendrick Motorsports in December of 2006. He was then tasked with testing the team’s Car of Tomorrow program as the lead driver in their research and development department which accumulated 13 of the first 16 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series COT race wins.

In 2008 Cassill began a stint at JR Motorsports where he ended the season with 19 starts, five top-10’s, one pole and the NASCAR Nationwide Series Raybestos Rookie of the Year honor. Cassill continued testing with Hendrick Motorsports and completed one start in Phoenix Racing’s No. 1 Miccosukee Chevrolet at Memphis Motorsports Park in 2009, where he finished 10th.

The year 2009 saw Cassill take on the challenge of qualifying for his very first NASCAR Sprint Cup Series events. 2012 marked Cassill’s first full-time season on the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. Cassill drove the No. 83 Burger King Toyota to seven top-20 finishes for start-up team BK Racing. For 2013, Landon will also be competing in the Sprint Cup Series, racing the No. 33 Circle Sport Chevrolet.

“JD Motorsports is pleased to announce the addition of Landon Cassill to our team. His experience in both the Nationwide Series and the Sprint Cup Series will help to improve our entire program,” stated Johnny Davis, owner and CEO of JD Motorsports.

“We are very excited to have Landon on the team. Landon brings with him a great deal of experience and success and we think he’ll do a tremendous job moving the team forward. We would love to see him in the winner’s circle!” stated Phil Swift, owner of Swift Response LLC, maker of Flex Seal. Flex Seal, in Original and Brite, both spray out a liquid that seeps into cracks and holes, and dries to a watertight, flexible rubberized coating. Flex Seal and Flex Seal Brite seal out water and last for years. Use Flex Seal for: Gutters, Roofs, Pipes, Windows, Trim, Cement Driveways, Fountains & More.

“I am really happy to be joining JD Motorsports and racing the No. 4 Flex Seal Chevrolet in the NASCAR Nationwide Series. I went down to the shop and met with Johnny and the guys, and I am excited for the opportunity. I look forward to helping them improve over the course of the season, and I believe we can race competitively starting at Texas.” -Landon Cassill

GAFFNEY, S.C. (March 27, 2013) – In an amicable agreement, JD Motorsports w/Gary Keller has, effective immediately, parted ways with driver Danny Efland.

Efland drove the No. 4 Chevrolet for the team through the past two seasons, but not on a full-time basis. His departure now opens up the opportunity for someone else to continue on in that car.

“I would like to thank Danny for all his time and effort this year,” said Johnny Davis, owner. “This is a move to make our organization better. As a team, we need to constantly improve our communication in order to improve our finishes on the track.

“I believe this change will make both the No. 01 and the No. 4 Chevrolet teams stronger throughout the year.”

The team’s No. 01 entry will continue to be driven by Mike Wallace; who has been with JD Motorsports through the past five seasons.

Post Race News

GAFFNEY, S.C. (March 25, 2013) – The No. 4 iWorld Chevy entered Auto Club Speedway with the intention of racing hard and gaining points. After barely missing the race at Bristol last weekend, the team put extra emphasis on not only making the race, but finishing strong. Once again, Daryl Harr returned to wheel the No. 4 iWorld Chevy.

As the lone practice began on Friday, the team used a second driver to strengthen the No. 4 for the weekend. Landon Cassill, the 2008 NASCAR Nationwide Series Rookie of the Year and veteran test driver with over 120 starts, stepped in to help the team. Harr and Cassill spent the 2 hour practice session working on the handle of the race car, ending up 20th on the board.

Veteran Cassill again stepped in and used his experience to qualify the No. 4 iWorld Chevy 27th for the start of the Royal Purple 300. After gaining knowledge and experience from Cassill, Harr strapped in the No. 4 iWorld Chevy to start the race. He immediately began a spirited battle for a position within the top 25.

As the race continued, Harr and CC Dave Smith worked on the handle, fighting a loose condition for much of the afternoon. As the laps expired, the No. 4 iWorld Chevy finished 28th, moving them closer to the all important top 30 in owners points.

Daryl Harr Quotes: “What a fun weekend for the team out in California! I was glad to have Landon come in and help with the No. 4 car for the weekend. I was able to learn from his experience and knowledge, and I felt really good about my race and the car at the end. I learned a few things from the drivers seat, but the team also benefited immensely from having him step in for a few laps. I am already looking forward to my next Nationwide event in Iowa.”
